RFID Warehouse Robot

The main objective of the proposed project is to develop an autonomous robot which recognizes and picks the household items and store those items in the correct location. The main purpose of this project is to use the autonomous robot which has the capacity to recognize the household items by reading the tag on those items. The robot should pick-up the house hold items and by using follower module it should move those items to the prescribed destination to store the household items at the correct location.

DESCRIPTION:

Nowadays Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) is the new trend in the industry field. Main aim of this project is to develop an autonomous robot with RFID application. Its potential application can range from the warehouse to library management. RFID reader and micro controller are the main components of this project. The movement control includes the infra-red sensors with motor for the line follower.

The embedded c language will make the whole programming operation. By reading the tag on the household items, the autonomous robot will recognize the house hold items. The robot will pick-up the house hold items and by using follower module it will move those items to the prescribed destination to store the household items at the correct location. A small white platform with black line is designed for testing and demonstration.

TECHNOLOGY:

Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) will communicate through the radio waves. A technology which uses tags as a component in an integrated supply chain solution set that will evolve over the next few years is called as Radio Frequency Identification. RFID tags have a chip which contains an electronic product code (EPC) number that points to the additional data detailing the contents of the package. Readers don’t require physical contact or line-of-sight scanning, to recognize the EPC numbers from a distance. Based on RFID technology, Applications are evolving to comply with shipping products to automatically processing transactions.

In the RFID module, The Identification of authorized persons is stored. The authorized person will keep the RFID Tag on the RFID Reader before performing a task, then RFID reader reads the tag and checks it is a VALID or INVALID card or not. If the card belongs to the authorized person (if it is a valid one) then it will permit to the further operations i.e., it will send the information to the controller and controller will read that information.

 

The pre-stored values are compared with the data received from the particular reader. If the received data is equal to pre-stored data (Authentication Success) then only the task is performed or the device is accessible. Else it prompts that authentication is failed and a message will be displayed on the LCD that the concern person is an authorized person or not. The concern person can perform the task if he is an authorized person. The concern person can’t perform the task if he is an unauthorized person.

This project develops an autonomous robot which recognizes and picks the household items, navigate it to prescribed destination and store those items in the correct location.
